history

The existence of the place is proven from 1640. At that time, documents from the ecclesiastical tithe lords of Vianden proved the village of "Jucken", which belongs to the parish of Olmscheid. The name of the place comes from the Old High German word jukan , which means “sprout, grow”.
Until the end of the 18th century, Jucken belonged to the Binscheid dairy in the Luxembourgish rulership of Dasburg in the Vianden district.
After taking possession of the Austrian Netherlands (1794), to which the Duchy of Luxembourg belonged, and taking over the French administrative structures (1795), Jucken belonged to Mairie Olmscheid in the canton of Arzfeld , which administratively belonged to the arrondissement of Bitburg in the department of Forests .
Due to the resolutions at the Congress of Vienna , the region came to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 . Under the Prussian administration, Jucken belonged to the Olmscheid mayor's office in the newly established district of Prüm in the Trier administrative district from 1816 onwards .
In 1929 the place was connected to the electricity network, in 1961 to the district water pipeline. The street lighting was installed in 1963, the canalization took place in 1968.
The school in Jucken, built in 1963 and inaugurated in 1964, was closed in 1974 with the school reform .
