Kinzenburg is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Arzfeld .

geography

The place is located on the Prüm not far from the federal road 410 southwest of Merlscheid . As a so-called dead end village , the place can only be reached via the 123 district road.

history

There are remains of Roman settlements in the area. Kinzenburg is first mentioned in 1570. Kinzenburg was divided up until the end of the 18th century. It belonged partly to the Pronsfeld condominium and partly to the Luxembourgish domination of Neuerburg . In 1794 French revolutionary troops occupied the Austrian Netherlands , to which the Duchy of Luxembourg belonged, and annexed it in October 1795 . From 1795 to 1814 the place belonged to the canton of Arzfeld in the department of forests . In 1815 he came to Prussia and was assigned to the mayor's office in Lichtenborn . In 1910 the place had 77 inhabitants. A railway line that opened in 1907 and ran through Kinzenburg was shut down and dismantled in 1987.
