Kickeshausen is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Arzfeld .
geography
The place is located in the southern Eifel , about two kilometers south of Arzfeld , on the edge of the German-Luxembourg nature park and is drained by the Enzbach.
Kickeshausen includes the hamlets and residential areas Grünenseifen, Hahnenpfuhl, Leibighof, Neuhof and Pickhof. The hamlet of Steinrausch to the northeast of the town center is only partly part of Kickeshausen, partly it lies within the Olmscheid district .
In terms of area, the municipality is one of the smallest municipalities in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm. At 82.2%, a high proportion of the municipal area is used for agriculture in comparison to the surrounding area, the settlement and transport area is higher at 8.9% than the forest area at 8.0% (as of 2011).
Kickeshausen shares its borders with Irrhausen in the north, Arzfeld in the east, Jucken in the south and Olmscheid in the west.
history
The place is probably of Celtic origin, as a Celtic fortress Hicastel near Olmscheid suggests, and was already in the 6th century BC. Settled. Remains of a Roman fortification have also come down to us.
Up until the end of the 18th century, Kickeshausen belonged to the Binscheid dairy in the Luxembourgish rulership of Dasburg in the Vianden district.
After taking possession of the Austrian Netherlands (1794), to which the Duchy of Luxembourg belonged, and the takeover of the French administrative structures (1795), Kickeshausen belonged to Mairie Olmscheid in the canton of Arzfeld , which administratively belonged to the arrondissement of Bitburg in the department of Forests .
Due to the resolutions at the Congress of Vienna , the region came to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 . Under the Prussian administration, Kickeshausen belonged to the Olmscheid mayor's office in the newly established district of Prüm in the Trier administrative district from 1816 onwards .

With 52 inhabitants, Kickeshausen is one of the smallest communities in Rhineland-Palatinate.
Municipal council
The council in Kickeshausen consists of six council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Economy and Infrastructure
Kickeshausen is today an agricultural community. Since 1971, when 9 farms were counted, the utilized agricultural area has increased from 109 hectares to 128 hectares (2007), which were managed by 3 farms.
The local community is about two kilometers south of the federal highway 410 . The nearest train station is Clervaux on the Luxembourg Northern Railway , about 25 km west in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
