Cantorals
A cantorale (from Latin cantor 'singer') is a liturgical book with text and melody of the response psalm and call to the gospel from the proprium of the mass for the recital by the cantor .
Kantoralia used in German-speaking countries:
- The Munich Cantorale contains response psalm, Hallelujah and other song suggestions (such as Kyrielitanyien , Martyrologium , festive announcements , Olives worship , funeral masses ) for the Sundays and public holidays of the church year and is committed to church tonality. A workbook and a cantor's edition were published for the individual reading years as well as the saints' festivals, which only contain the answer psalms and calls to the Gospel and no accompanying clauses. Vol. 5 or F, celebrations on special occasions - with commune for church consecrations and saints, is planned for May 2020. In the various volumes of the cantorale, the Psalter of the old standard translation was first used, then that of the new standard translation.
- The Freiburger Kantorenbuch is limited to the major / minor tonality . It consists of a volume with the answer psalms and a second volume with the calls to the Gospel. The 3 years of reading are each summarized in one volume. The underlying biblical text is the Münsterschwarzacher Psalter , which has been praised for its translation accuracy.
- The SCHOTT cantorale contains response psalm and hallelujah in a simple melodic version.
With the publication of the new hymn book Gotteslob 2013, revised versions of the Kantoralia appeared.
The cantional for the celebration of the evangelical mass , published by the evangelical Michael Brotherhood , is of the liturgical book type rather a gradual than a cantoralia.
