history

Canoeing
Dragon boating

The association was founded on March 11, 1926. The club had its first boat accommodation in the bowling alley of the “Brüchele” restaurant on Windeckstrasse. Soon two halls of the old pitch factory behind the Pfalzplatz were rented and set up as boat halls. In 1932, the old powder magazine in the palace garden was acquired. Over time, this was expanded into a spacious boathouse with 250 berths. Two wooden boat sheds were built on each side. An old railroad car served as the youth room. In 1944 the boathouse with all boats and sports equipment was completely destroyed in two air raids. In 1946 the construction of today's boathouse could already be started again. In the anniversary year of 1951, three boat halls with 60 boat spaces were available again. After twelve years of construction, today's boathouse was completed in 1958.
