Kaori Muraji

Kaori Muraji ( Japanese 村 治 佳 織 , Muraji Kaori ; born April 14, 1978 in Taitō , Tokyo ) is a Japanese classical guitarist .

Life

Muraji comes from a musical family and received her first guitar lessons from her father at the age of three. After winning several guitar competitions, she gave her first public concert in 1993 at the age of 15 at Tsuda Hall in Tokyo . Also in 1993 her first CD "Espressivo" was released.

From 1997 Muraji studied with Alberto Ponce at the École Normale de Musique de Paris . Since 2000 she has performed solo or with orchestra around the world. She has been publishing recordings with Decca Records since 2003 and claims to be the first Japanese artist to have an exclusive contract with this label.

From July 2013, she took an eight-month break because of tongue cancer treatment . At the end of July 2014, she announced her marriage. In 2019, she announced that she was divorced in 2018.
