Kaoru Shibayama

Kaoru Shibayama ( Japanese 柴山 薫 , Shibayama Kaoru ; * 1963 or 1964 in Chiba Prefecture , Japan ; † April 14, 2007 ) was a Japanese manga artist .

Shibayama started his career in the 1980s. He created various manga series for young people for the monthly manga magazine Gekkan Shōnen Jump , most of them about sports. These works include the 2000-page rival on which he drew from 1989 to 1994 and in which boxing is in the foreground, as well as Chara! , which appeared in about 300 pages in 1995 and is about tennis. From 1996 to 2000 he created the 1000-page wrestling series Bakkotsu Shōjo Giri Giri Purin for Gekkan Shōnen Jump .

In 2002 the Shūeisha publishing house, which also published the Gekkan Shōnen Jump and all of its book publications published in the 1990s, published I-58 Fujōseri, a manga he wrote based on a story by Tsukasa Ikegami. In contrast to the works he had created up to then, this is not aimed at a young audience, but rather at adult men.

After the publication of I-58 Fujōseri , he moved to Take-Shobō- Verlag and brought out three books in a different spelling of his name ( 柴山 か お る ). From July 2006 worked for the newly founded comic Valkyrie magazine on the series Mugen Shōjo Dreamer Angels . This remained unfinished due to his death on April 14, 2007 at the age of 43.

The artist has published over thirty books, including fourteen on Rival and seven on Bakkotsu Shōjo Giri Giri Purin .
