The Cape Annawan is an icy cape which the eastern end of Thurston Island marked and the entrance to the Seraph Bay northwest limited. It is at the end of the Tierney Peninsula .

It was discovered in February 1960 during helicopter flights from the USCGC Burton Island and the USS Glacier as part of the United States Navy research trip to the Bellingshausen Sea . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after the brig Annawan , a seal hunter of the American Palmer Pendleton Expedition (1829-1931) to develop new fishing grounds on the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands .
