Cape Barlas is a cape at the northern end of Fredriksen Island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands .
It was discovered and roughly mapped by Captains George Powell (1794-1824) and Nathaniel Palmer in December 1821. Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations carried out a new mapping in 1933 and named the cape after William Barlas (1888-1941), representative of the United Kingdom on Deception Island and the rest of the South Shetland Islands (1914–1915) and on various occasions on South Georgia (1928–1941).
