The cape Batterbee is an icy cape with distinctive ledges that protrude from coastal ice cliffs. It marks the northern end of the Antarctic Enderbyland and is located immediately east of Proclamation Island .
It was discovered on January 13, 1930 during the British Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (1929-1931) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson . This named the cape after Harry Fagg Batterbee (1880-1976), then Deputy Minister for the Dominions under James Henry Thomas and later High Commissioner of the United Kingdom in New Zealand .
