Cape Betbeder is a cape at the southwestern end of Andersson Island off the northeastern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula . It marks the entrance from the Erebus and Terror Gulf into the Fridtjof Sund .
It was mapped by the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903) under the direction of Otto Nordenskjöld . He named the cape after Vice-Admiral Onofre Betbeder (1860-1914), the Argentine Minister of the Navy at the time, who arranged for the corvette Uruguay to be made available to rescue the expedition members after their own ship sank.
