The Cape Bienvenue ( French Cap Bienvenue , Willkommenskap ' ) is a small, rocky Cape of 44 m height on the coast of the East Antarctic Adélielands . It is located on the east side of the entrance to Piner Bay between the Astrolabe and Zélée glaciers .
Aerial photos of the cape were taken during the US operation Highjump (1946–1947). It was mapped and named by Michel Barré (* 1919), head of the winter team of the French Antarctic expedition, which lasted from 1951 to 1952 and set up an astronomical observation station here. It was named after the cape was used as a welcome landing point, because it was previously unknown.
