The Cape Braathen is an icy Cape at the northeastern end of Evans Peninsula in the north of Thurston Island before Eights Coast of the West Antarctic Ellsworthlands .
Its position was determined from aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy VX-6 squadron in January 1960. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after the Norwegian Christoffer Braathen (1895-1937), ski expert and sled dog guide on the American Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1928-1930).
