Cape Darlington is an icy and 305 m high headland on the Black Coast of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . The cape limits the entrance to the Hilton Inlet to the south .
Participants of the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941) discovered the headland in 1940 under the false assumption that it was an island. The real nature was discovered by participants of the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948) during an overflight in November 1947. Namesake is Harry Darlington III. (1918–1996), a participant in the service's expedition who was involved in surveying the coastline to Hilton Inlet.
