The Cape MacKay is an icy cape , which the southeastern foothills of the Ross Island forms. It is completely enclosed by the ice masses of the Ross Ice Shelf .
It was discovered and named by participants in the British Discovery Expedition (1901-1904) led by Robert Falcon Scott . Namesake is captain Henry Duncan "Harry" MacKay (1854-1925), commander of the Terra Nova , one of the two rescue ships of the expedition.
