The Cape Murdoch (also known as Cape Burn Murdoch ) is a cape , the southeastern tip of Mossman Peninsula on the south coast of Laurie Iceland in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands formed. The cape is on the east side of the entrance to Buchan Bay .
It was mapped in 1903 during the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition (1902-1904) under the direction of the Scottish polar explorer William Speirs Bruce . Bruce named the cape after the Scottish painter William Gordon Burn Murdoch (1862-1969), a sponsor of the research trip .
