The Buchan Bay is a small bay near the southwest end of Laurie Iceland in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It lies between Cape Hartree and Cape Murdoch .
It was mapped in 1903 during the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition (1902-1904) under the direction of the Scottish polar explorer William Speirs Bruce . Bruce named the bay after the Scottish meteorologist Alexander Buchan (1829-1907).
