Cornelia Löhne

Cornelia Löhne (* 1975 in Leipzig ) is a German botanist . Löhne has been the custodian of the Botanical Garden of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn since autumn 2016 .

Life

After attending school in Sömmerda (Thuringia), Steigra and Querfurt (Saxony-Anhalt), Löhne studied biology in Leipzig and Heidelberg from 1994 to 2001 with a focus on botany and tropical ecology. She wrote her diploma thesis on “Investigations into the flower biology of Mandevilla dardanoi MF Sales ( Apocynaceae ) as a typical representative of the Inselberg flora of Pernambucos (Brazil)”. From 2002 to 2006, he did a doctorate at the University of Bonn . At the Nees Institute for Biodiversity of Plants, she wrote her dissertation with the title "Molecular Phylogenetics and Historical Biogeography of Basal Angiosperms - A Case Study in Nymphaeales" and was awarded a Dr. rer. nat. PhD .

Until March 2008 she was employed as a research assistant at the Botanical Gardens of the University of Bonn, where she worked on research and development projects for the "Implementation of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation in Germany" and "Innovative educational offers in botanical gardens, zoos and open-air museums". Between April 2008 and September 2015 she was the scientific coordinator of the Botanical Garden and Botanical Museum of the Free University of Berlin . There she worked in the management and on the further development of the facility, including the development of research and collection concepts, communication with partners and sponsors, politics and authorities.

From October 2015 to October 2016 she was scientific advisor to the director at the Zoological Research Museum Alexander Koenig (ZFMK) in Bonn. She has been the custodian of Wolfram Lobin's successor in the Botanical Gardens of the University of Bonn since October 2016 .
