The Cape Phillips is a chapter on the Borchgrevink Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is located eight miles southeast of Mount Brewster in the middle of the east coast of the Daniell Peninsula .
The British polar explorer James Clark Ross discovered the cape in January 1841 during his Antarctic expedition (1839–1843). He named it after Lieutenant Charles Gerrans Phillips (1803–1871) from the research vessel HMS Terror .
