The Cape Pirner is a headland on the north coast of South Georgia . It marks the entrance to Moltke Harbor in Royal Bay to the north .
A German research group led by Carl Schrader during the First International Polar Year (1882–1883) mapped and named the Cape . Namesake is Johannes Heinrich Pirner, captain of the ship SMS Moltke on this research trip.
