Chapel (Weinried)

The Roman Catholic chapel is located in Weinried , a district of the Oberschönegg community in the Unterallgäu district ( Bavaria ). The chapel, built in the 18th century, is a listed building.

Building description

The chapel is a narrow, rectangular building with an equally rectangular end on the west side. An arched door on the east side provides access to the chapel. There is a small arched window on both long sides. The chapel is covered with a gable roof , inside there is a shallow barrel as a ceiling.

Interior

The altar in the west of the chapel consists of two arched niches. In the upper one is the two-column wooden altar. This is taken and dates from around 1800. The oil painting with the representation of farewell Jesus of Mary and his disciples comes from the same time. The lower arched niche is closed off by a diamond lattice. Behind it are two wooden figures. There is a popularly executed kneeling, scourged Savior, who is covered with wounds. The figure comes from the first half of the 18th century. A Pietà is also set up in the niche . This is labeled 1744 on the back .
