Chapel Glowe

The Glowe Chapel (also: St. Birgitta Church ) is a church building from the 20th century in Glowe on the island of Rügen .

The chapel , which is used by the Evangelical parishes of Altenkirchen and Wiek, belonging to the Stralsund Propstei of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District, was built in 1981. The architect was H. Henke. On October 19, 1982 the church, the construction of which was financed by the Bremen Church and the Swedish Church , was consecrated.

The west wall of the church hall, built in the shape of a Finnhütte, is glazed. In the churchyard there are two other buildings built in the style of Finnhütten: the bell tower with its three bells arranged one above the other and a community room. All three buildings are thatched.

In 2007 the chapel was named after Birgitta of Sweden on Reformation Day .
