The church in Hetlingen is called a chapel . In addition to the church service room, it has a free-standing tower that is covered with copper plates. The chapel was consecrated in 1971 . It is on the main road.

The chapel is a preaching place of the parish Sankt Gabriel Haseldorf - Hetlingen. The parish Sankt Gabriel belongs to the parish of Hamburg-West / Südholstein in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .

Since the border was drawn in 1757, the whole of Hetlingen has belonged to Haseldorf ecclesiastically.

The church was founded during the tenure of Pastor Dr. Hans Georg Asmussen (1961–1972) built. With its consecration in 1971, it is the first church building in Hetlingen.

Pastor is Dr. Helmut Nagel.

In the church in Hetlingen, worship is celebrated with a sermon every 2nd Sunday of the month.

The parish maintains a youth center in Hetlingen.

Transport links

The construction of the road through the March 1952 was important for the connection to the community in Haseldorf. Before that there was only one road connection to Holm, up to the Geest. In past centuries, the way from Altenkoog to the road from Heist to Haselau was very difficult.

Parishioners

In 1994, 676 of the 1,123 inhabitants of Hetlingen belonged to the Protestant parish. That is 60.2%.
