The Maria Ebene chapel stands elevated on the Maria Ebene plateau in the market town of Frastanz in the Feldkirch district in Vorarlberg . The chapel of the parish Frastanz , consecrated to the miraculous image of Mariahilf , belongs to the dean's office of Feldkirch in the diocese of Feldkirch . The chapel is under monument protection ( list entry ). The patronage is celebrated on July 1st every year.

The Friedensweg was created in 1999 to mark the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Frastanz . Since then, the chapel has also been called the Peace Chapel.

history

In 1611 a brick wayside shrine was built nearby as thanks for surviving the plague. The wayside shrine was renovated in 1763 and an outer house for 30 to 40 people was added in 1780. In 1824 a petition was sent to the Vicariate General Feldkirch for a new construction of the Mayerebne chapel and this was approved by the district office in 1825. 1825–1826 the construction work for the new chapel, which was completed and inaugurated in 1828, took place. In 1840/47 two side altars were purchased. The first renovation had to be carried out as early as 1846. Another window was added to the nave in 1868 and the tower with the sacristy was added in 1877. On the occasion of the renovation in 1889, a church clock was installed, which was donated by the textile factory owner Amman from Monza from Göfis. In 1916 the Marien high altar was purchased. In 1950 the three new bells were consecrated. The staircase in the tower and a room for the church choir were built in 1959. In 1964 the baroque altar had to be renovated. In 1966/67 the exterior was renovated again and the tower was converted to its present form. Further extensive renovations were carried out in 1984 and 2005/2006.

architecture

The nave has a gable roof. In the approximately western gable front is the central, flat arched portal or Built Ano 1826 , its left two segmentbogige window, above a sign as a pent-roof over the entire front width standing on struts on consoles, about the vertical axis of a semi-circle window, above a circular window, and in the gable end an arched recess with a figure. The lower, drawn-in choir with a straight end has a gable roof. The tower with a pointed gable helmet stands south of the choir. The sacristy extension with a pent roof is adjacent to the end of the choir and the tower.

The interior of the chapel with a rectangular nave has a flat ceiling with a ceiling painting of Mary and Child , painted by Florus Scheel in 1891. The straight gallery stands on two wooden supports. The retracted triumphal arch is flat rounded. The choir with a flat ceiling that ends just now has arched windows on the north side.

Furnishing

The high altar with four columns and two pillars is from the end of the 17th century and therefore older than the chapel itself. It shows a high altar picture Mariahilf with a representation of a bridge and a castle from the end of the 17th century, the upper picture shows Anna Maria teaching to read . In the gable top is the figure of God the Father by Erasmus Kern around 1640. The right choir arch shows a painting of St. Martin re. 1671, renovated in 1763 and 1924. The carved wooden stations of the cross were made at the end of the 19th century.
