Maria zur Mühlen chapel (Kräwinklerbrücke)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Maria zur Mühlen chapel was a Catholic chapel in the former village of Kräwinklerbrücke .

It was donated in 1945 by Wilhelm Sieper and his Catholic wife Lucie Sieper (née Brinkschulte). In the post-war years, many Catholic refugees came to Kräwinklerbrücke from the German East. Since there was no Catholic church in the predominantly evangelically populated area, the former old mill was donated to the Catholic Church. The chapel was built in 1951 on the foundations of the former flour mill at the mouth of the Heider Bach in the Wupper .

On April 19, 1979 the building was demolished again. Shortly before, thieves stole the church's furnishings. At the instigation of Pastor Hans Günter Saul, the bell was moved to the St. Andreas Church in Bergisch Born in Remscheid . The reason for the demolition was the construction of the Wuppertalsperre , which flooded the location of the chapel.
