The Chapel of Our Lady grief was a chapel in Hetensbach , a village at today's district documentary mentioned in the 8th century, and dialed in the 15th century of the Heilbronn district Böckingen .

Place and surroundings

The Oberamtsbeschreibung from 1865 mentions a chapel that stood on a hill called Gukele-Morr (on older maps also Gugelmur or Cuculimur ). This name comes from the Latin term cucculi murus (English: building of the high guard ). The hill from which the Neckar valley could be monitored was between Klingenberg and Böckingen. The town of Hetensbach , which was lost in the 15th century, is also located at this point . The chapel would therefore be identical to the church in Hetensbach mentioned in 1295.

The chapel, which was consecrated in the Middle Ages as a chapel to Our Lady Sorrow , was torn down in 1510. In 1680 the ruin was used as a quarry, with the stones being used as building material for a farmhouse in Böckingen. Structural remains have probably been preserved since the chapel continues to appear on maps from the late 17th century. The chapel was completely demolished when Zabergäustraße was laid out in 1811. The stones of the chapel were used for road construction. The hill on which the parish of Böckingen cultivated wine was also removed in the course of the road construction.

Today the chapel would be in Ludwigsburger Str. 188/190 in Böckingen.

description

The building was shaped like an oblong rectangle 22 meters long, and its strong walls were made of ashlar. The facade of the building, which faced the plateau, had a large gate with a pressed archway flanked by window arches. On the northern side of the building in the direction of Böckingen there was another large gate that was spanned by a round arch.
