history
The Capuchins came to Kraków in 1695 and began building the monastery and church in the simple Tuscan Baroque style. The founder was Wojciech Dembiński , who was also buried in the church. The first mass was celebrated in 1700, but the church was not consecrated until 1703. That of Cosimo III. de 'Medici donated altar painted 1701 by the Florentine Pietro Dandini . In the next column is a cannonball that hit the church on August 15, 1768 during the Polish-Russian War . The insurgents who fell during the battle for the church were buried on the church grounds in front of the main entrance. The Capuchins built the Kraków Loreto House next to the church .
