Kara Lynn Joyce

Kara Lynn Joyce (born October 25, 1985 in Brooklyn ) is an American freestyle swimmer .

Kara Lynn Joyce has been a world leader in swimming since 2004. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , she won the silver medals in the 4 × 100 m freestyle and 4 × 100 m individual medley relay. She was fifth both over 50 m and 100 m. At the short course world championships in Indianapolis that same year , Joyce won the title with the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay. There was also silver with the 4 × 100 m individual medley relay. She was fourth in the 100 m freestyle and eighth in the 50 m. At the 2005 World Championships in Montreal , Joyce won another relay medal, this time bronze in the 4 × 100 m freestyle. Joyce was seventh over 50 m. The swimmer from Athens won her first international title on an individual distance at the Pan-Pacific Games in Victoria in 2006 in the 50 m freestyle, as well as gold in the 4 × 100 m relay.

The 2007 World Championships in Melbourne were also very successful . With the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay, Joyce was able to win the title, over 4 × 100 m, the US relay with Joyce was second. She also finished seventh in the 50 m freestyle. In the US Trials , the qualification for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , she was fourth over 50 m, seventh over 100 m and eighth over 200 m. She qualified for the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay, with which she won silver as in 2004.
