Karan Casey
Karan Casey (born 1969 in Ballyduff Lower, Kilmeaden , County Waterford , Ireland ) is an Irish folk singer.
She was the front singer of the well-known American-Irish group Solas for four and a half years before embarking on a solo career.
Life
Karan Casey was born and raised in Ballyduff Lower. Her family encouraged her to sing, both at home, in the church choir and at school. She studied piano at Waterford Regional Technical College and from 1987 music at University College Dublin .
She is the mother of two daughters.
