Ernst Halter

Ernst Halter (born April 12, 1938 in Zofingen ) is a Swiss writer and publicist .

Life

Ernst holder studied German literature and art history , and in 1967 at the University of Zurich with a dissertation on Ludwig Tieck doctorate . He then worked as a lecturer and editor .

In terms of literature, Halter first came out in 1970 with the volume of poetry The imperfect hunters . His later publications, however, are mostly short stories and novels. His better-known works include Urwil (AG) , in which he describes the atmosphere of a fictional Aargau village, and The Voice of Breath. Dictionary of a Childhood (2003) that has autobiographical traits. In total he has published over twenty works.

For his literary work, Halter has received various prizes, including the Swiss Schiller Foundation Prize ( 1973) and the Aargau Literature Prize (2000). In addition, he was awarded several years of service by the Aargau Board of Trustees to promote cultural life.

Ernst Halter is also active as an editor , publicist, publishing consultant and translator . He was married to the poet Erika Burkart until her death on April 14, 2010 and lives in Landhaus Kapf in Aristau .
