history

The publishing house was founded in 1989 as "OZV Offizin Zürich Verlags AG" with a focus on the areas of art, photography, cultural history, folklore and ethnology. Until the end of the 1990s the publishing house was run by Ernst Halter and Peter Zehnder.

At the beginning of 2000 the publishing house was bought by Orell Füssli Verlag AG and the publishing responsibility was taken over by its managing director Manfred Hiefner. At the beginning of 2008, Orell Füssli Verlag AG privately sold Offizin Zürich Verlag to Hiefner, who had recently been transferred to the management of Stämpfli Verlag AG . In May 2009 he sold the publisher, which had meanwhile been converted into a GmbH , to Marco Fumasoli , who, however, at the beginning of 2011 again transferred a majority stake in the company back to Manfred Hiefner, who thus became managing partner.

Offizin Verlag was taken over by Stämpfli Verlag AG in 2017 and liquidated at the end of 2018.
