The Bajazzo Verlag is one of paintings- and children's books specialized Swiss publishing house based in Zurich .

The publisher publishes around ten to twelve picture and children's books every year. The longsellers of the publisher include “The story of the lion who couldn't write” by Martin Baltscheit , who has published numerous other books as an author for Bajazzo Verlag, “A new house for Charlie” by Doris Lecher , “Als Mama noch a good girl was ” by Claudine Desmarteau , “ Echte Kerle ” by Manuela Olten and “ The Story of the Little Hole ” by Isabel Pin .

The children's book "Sister" by Jon Fosse and Aljoscha Blau was awarded the 2007 German Youth Literature Prize. A total of eight titles by the publisher have been nominated for this award since its inception.

Other authors whose works have been published by Bajazzo Verlag include Verena Ballhaus , Helga Bansch , Hannes Binder , Julio Cortázar , Albrecht Gralle , Erwin Grosche , Josef Guggenmos , Lukas Hartmann , Heinz Janisch , Katja Kamm , Lieselotte Kinskofer , Anne Maar , Eduard Mörike , Andreas Schendel , Brigitte Schär and Tino Bussalb .

Bajazzo Verlag was managed by the owner Ingrid Rösli together with Thomas Minssen. They founded the publishing house at the end of 1997 as a sole proprietorship under the name “Palazzo Verlag”. For reasons of trademark law, it was renamed “Bajazzo Verlag” in 2000. With effect from January 1, 2012, the Weinheim publishing group Beltz took over the Bajazzo publishing house.

Thomas Minssen, who also worked as an author and translator, died in January 2018 at the age of 77 in Basel.
