In her children's books, Kinskofer lets the experience horizons of children and adults collide. It shows that children use their imagination much more freely than adults trust them or want to allow them to. Your young protagonists are characterized by considerable resilience and are not inclined to simply accept the conventions of their adult interlocutors. This creates situations and learning effects that Kinskofer describes with great understanding, empathy and sympathy for childlike thinking. In her two novels about the "piano ling" - a boy as long as a finger who lives as a musical brownie in a piano, as it were, echoes an idea that Erich Kästner worked on in his novels about " The Little Man ". Lieselotte Kinskofer developed the motif consistently and added to it (she is an enthusiastic, if not professional organist herself) u. a. the importance of music for personality development. Kinskofer's crime novels are mostly set in the Upper Palatinate. In the parts of the series that have appeared so far, the author sends the mediocre, unsure, and not very ambitious local journalist Thomas Reitinger into the depths of local networks of relationships. Kinskofer creates an exciting and humorous dramaturgy from the contrast between the main character's unwillingness to deal with the felt and the narrow-mindedness of his homeland and the dynamics that result from the events. The author often publishes short stories in anthologies or magazines (e.g. in the ad-free children's magazine Gecko ). She wrote some of her books in cooperation with another author, such as Anke Bahr.
