Kardemir ( Turkish abbreviation Karabük Demir Çelik Fabrikaları ) is a Turkish steel manufacturer based in Karabük . It was founded in 1937 as part of Ataturk's industrialization strategy and privatized in 1995.

The company is a long steel manufacturer that produces structural steel , billets , profiles and rails . The steel production capacity is 3 million tons per year in 5 blast furnaces .
