The cardinal shrimp ( Caridina dennerli ), also called Sulawesi shrimp, is a dwarf shrimp of the genus Caridina from the freshwater shrimp family from Asia. The company Dennerle GmbH has taken over the sponsorship name for the animal. The company sponsored the expedition that ultimately led to the discovery of this shrimp, among other things.
Appearance
The common feature of the shrimp from Sulawesi are significantly reduced epipodes on the rear striding legs.
Distribution area
Caridina dennerli lives endemically in Lake Matano on the island of Sulawesi (Indonesia), hence the name "Sulawesi shrimp " . Temperatures of 27 to 30 ° C prevail in Lake Matano, with a conductance of 200 to 300uS / cm. In addition, the GH value is 7 and the KH value 5. The pH value of Lake Matano is well above 8.
