Kareem Abeed

Kareem Abeed ( Arabic كريم عبيد, DMG Karīm ʿAbīd ; * 20th century ) is a Syrian film producer . Abeed achieved great fame through his Oscar nomination at the 2018 Academy Awards for The Last Men of Aleppo , which was nominated as the first Syrian entry in the “ Best Documentary ” category. Director Feras Fayyad and co-producer Søren Steen Jespersen were also nominated.

Abeed received a "Cinema Eye Honors Award" and an "Asia Pacific Screen Award" for the documentary that illuminates the life of the founders of the White Helmets and focuses on search and rescue operations during the war in Aleppo .

For the Academy Awards he did not receive a visa for the USA due to Executive Order 13780 .
