Søren Steen Jespersen

Søren Steen Jespersen (born November 30, 1962 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish screenwriter , film producer and film director in the field of documentary film , who was nominated for an Oscar .

Career

Jespersen's career in the film business began with the television series Fak2eren in 1993, where he worked as a director and also wrote the script. Jespersen achieved great fame through his participation in the documentary The Last Men of Aleppo by director Feras Fayyad . The documentary, which illuminates the life of the founders of the White Helmets and focuses on search and rescue operations during the war in Aleppo , was nominated as the first Syrian entry in the category " Best Documentary " at the 2018 Academy Awards. Due to Executive Order 13780 , Kareem Abeed , who was also nominated like Jespersen, did not receive a visa for the USA.

At European film festivals, Jespersen was honored with an “Asia Pacific Screen Award” and “Cinema Eye Honors Award”.
