Karel Večeřa (born October 9, 1955 in Ivančice ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach .

player

Večeřa started playing football at the age of six for FC Zbrojovka Brno and went through all youth teams. At the age of 18, the defender made his debut for Brno in the Czechoslovak first division. A few months later he suffered an ankle injury, had to take a six-month break and failed to prevail against the strong competition. He was loaned to the second division KPS Brno, in the 1978/79 season he completed his military service with Dukla Tábor. He then returned to Zbrojovka, but did not make it into the starting eleven again. Večeřa was loaned again, this time to the second division club VP Frýdek-Místek . He returned briefly to his home club, ending his career at KPS Brno at the age of 26.

Trainer

Večeřa trained from 1983 first the F-youth, later the C-youth of FC Zbrojovka Brno. After only one season he changed clubs and looked after the B-youth of KPS Brno. From 1986 to 1988 he was responsible for the Czech U14 selection. In 1992 he returned to his old club, which had meanwhile been renamed from Zbrojovka to FC Boby Brno, and coached the club's A youth. After a season he moved to the post of assistant coach of the professional team.

When head coach Vladimír Táborský was dismissed after a few months of the 1993/94 season , Večeřa got his chance. In the summer of 1994 he became assistant coach again with the commitment of Petr Uličný . Večeřa only became the main coach in 1996. After a fourth and a tenth place he was dismissed after two opening defeats at the beginning of the 1998/99 season.

At the end of the same season Večeřa took over Petra Drnovice . The following season he led Drnovice to third place, the best placement in the club's history. The following year, the team finished seventh, but financial problems hardly suggested any prospects. Večeřa returned to Brno and led the team to eighth and ninth place. After the first half of the 2003/04 season he was dismissed, although the teams were ninth.

In the summer of 2004 Večeřa was coach of the second division club FC Vysočina Jihlava , which he immediately led to the Gambrinus League . However, the team immediately dismounted. Večeřa then moved to FC Baník Ostrava , with whom he reached seventh place in 2006/07.
