Petr Uličný (born February 11, 1950 in Uničov ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach .
Uličný was in the first Czech league including the 2008/09 season 402 times as a coach on the sidelines.
Player career
Uličný began his career at SK Hanácká Slavia Kroměříž . At the age of 19, the attacking midfielder moved to Sparta Prague , where he stayed for three years. Uličný then played for Škoda Pilsen , followed by a move to the then second division Sigma Olmütz in 1977 , with whom he was promoted to the first division in 1982. In the 1983/84 season he played for Dukla Hranice, but was also assistant coach , this also applied to his last station US Uničov 1984/85.
Uličný, who was also used as a striker, played 184 games in the 1st Czechoslovak League.
Coaching career
The entry into the coaching career was made possible for Uličný at his former club Sigma Olomouc. From 1985 he coached the B team for two years, from 1986 he was assistant to the first team for three years. His first station as head coach of an A team was in the 1989/90 season of the second division Baník Havířov. Uličný then worked for Svit Zlín for four years . He led the team in 1993 in the newly founded first Czech league, an eleventh place in 1993/94 meant safe relegation.
For the 1994/95 season Uličný took over the FC Boby Brno and led the team to third place, in the following season Boby was fifth. He then coached another club from Moravia , FC Baník Ostrava . In mid-September 1997 he was replaced by Werner Lička . Only Viktoria Pilsen from October 1997 to February 1999 was his first club from Bohemia . Again he had to vacate his chair early. 15 points from 17 games were not enough for the club's management, but successor Milan Šíp could not prevent relegation. Only three weeks after leaving Pilsen , Uličný found a new job in Prague with Viktoria Žižkov , where he was unable to achieve a great increase in the team's performance until the end of the season. Only seven points from the first eight games of the 1999/00 season cost him the job. A few months without work, Uličný replaced Jiří Bartl as head coach at SFC Opava in mid-March 2000 . Was the team at Uličnýs inauguration with 21 points in 13th place, so they rose at the end of the season with 28 points as the bottom of the table.
Uličný went to the 2nd league for SK Hradec Králové in 2000/01 and rose to the 1st league with the team with a large point advantage. The 2001/02 season ended Hradec Králové under Uličný in twelfth place. In the winter break of 2002/03, the club separated from him, Uličný hired at the direct table competitor from Olomouc , who also had only eleven points on the account. He led the team to eleventh place in 2003, and to a sensational third place the following season. In 2004/05 Sigma Olomouc was fourth, 2005/06 ninth.
Then Sigma Olomouc and Petr Uličný went their separate ways, who went to Zlín , where he had worked from 1990 to 1994. Things went unexpectedly bad there, and Uličný was sacked in November 2006 after just ten points from 14 games. In February 2007 he took over the reigning Slovak champion MFK Ružomberok , but was only fourth in the championship round, which was too little for the club management to continue working with Uličný. For the 2007/08 season he took over 1. FC Brno , where he had worked successfully in the mid-1990s. In October 2008 Uličný was dismissed for lack of success. After almost a year without work, Uličný took up the position of coach at the third division team HFK Olomouc .
