Karen Anne Buljo (born July 1, 1964 in Máze , Kautokeino municipality ) is a Sami - Norwegian writer and poet .

Buljo writes books for children and young people in the North Sami language . She has also published a travelogue, poems and teaching material. The results of their work also include a radio play for children and adults as well as a North Sami language course with a book and compact disc (CD).

Together with other artists, Buljo practices the singing art of joiking . For children she has published the CD Áfruvvá with joiks by the Sámi who live on the coast . Buljo's children's book Áfruvvá - Havfruen is based on a Sámi legend . It's about a girl who hears the joik of the sea and becomes a mermaid .

Her volume of poetry, Šiellaspeajal , was nominated for the Nordic Council Children's Book Prize in 2019 .
