Karen Marie Moning (born October 1 or November 1, 1964 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American author of urban fantasy . She lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina .

Life

Moning was born in Cincinnati, one of five children. She graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in society and law. After ten years working in insurance and arbitration, she left this job to pursue a career as a writer. Her works (including Beyond the Highland Mist ) have been nominated several times for the RITA Award , the prize of the Romance Writers of America . She won the 2001 RITA Award in the Paranormal Romance category for The Highlander's Touch . Her Highlander series appeared on the New York Times , USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists .

Fever Moon (2012)

Fever Moon is an original short story by Karen Marie Moning (played in the time of Shadowfever ), adapted as a comic by David Lawrence and illustrated by Al Rio. In this spin-off of the Fever series, Mac and Barrons work together against the Fear Dorcha. When it becomes clear that the Fear Dorcha is after Mac and her loved ones, Barrons and her spear are her only salvation.
