The Caribbean reef shark ( Carcharhinus perezii ) belongs to the group of requiem sharks (Carcharhinidae) and is a large, rather sturdy shark with a blunt, rounded snout. It becomes 1.5–2.9 m long and has a brownish to brownish-gray color on the back. The sides are bronze, the belly is white.
distribution
The distribution ranges from the southeast coast of Florida, the Caribbean and the western Atlantic to Brazil. You can often find it in the Bahamas too. It is a bottom-living species, which is found around corals and also in caves.
food
Only fish belong to its diet. Accidents of this type are known, but mostly not dangerous.
Reproduction
This species is viviparous with 4 to 6 offspring per litter.
