Karim Sadrieh

Abdolkarim Sadrieh (born January 21, 1965 in Tehran ) is a German professor of business administration . He has held the chair for e-business at the Faculty of Economics at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg since 2004 .

Life

Sadrieh was born as the son of a German-Persian family from Bonn economists (mother Dipl. Vw. And father Dr. rer. Pol. From the University of Bonn) in Tehran / Iran and lived mostly in Tehran but also temporarily in Bonn until he was 14. After the so-called “Islamic Revolution” in Iran, he finally relocated to Bonn in February 1979, where he obtained the general university entrance qualification in 1984 at the Heinrich-Hertz-Gymnasium.

From 1984 to 1991 Sadrieh studied at the University of Bonn and graduated in 1991 with a diploma in economics. While still a student, he worked from 1986 as a research assistant at the Bonn Laboratory for Experimental Economic Research of Nobel Prize Winner Reinhard Selten . He continued this collaboration from 1991 to 1997 as a research assistant at the same chair. He received his doctorate summa cum laude in 1997 with the dissertation “The Alternating Double Auction Market. A Game Theoretic and Experimental Investigation ”(first reviewer Reinhard Selten; second reviewer Urs Schweizer). He then took over the management of the Bonn Laboratory for Experimental Economic Research before he was appointed Assistant Professor of Economics ("tenure track") at Tilburg University in 1999. At the beginning of 2004 he was awarded a permanent professorship ("tenured" Associate Professor of Economics) at Tilburg University, shortly before he accepted the call (C4 / W3) at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg .

Since 2004 Sadrieh has held the chair for business administration, especially e-business, at the faculty for economics at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg. Since 2013 he has also held the position of dean of research in the Faculty of Economics and the position of the university's foreigners commissioner. In addition, he has been a member of the award committee for doctoral scholarships since 2005 and a member of the Otto von Guericke University's media advisory board since 2008.

Non-university activities

In addition to previous consulting activities in the telecommunications industry (especially in the first wave of frequency auctions from 1998 to 2000), Sadrieh started the project "Kangaroo seminars on knowledge transfer in online marketing" (funding as part of the innovation competition "Business meets Science" 2008 –2010) to strengthen the online marketing activities of small and medium-sized companies from the region of Central Germany.

Sadrieh was or is co-editor of the journals Experimental Economics (Kluwer), Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization (Elsevier) and the International Journal of Game Theory (Springer). He is a reviewer for numerous journals and funding institutions, including the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the European Research Council (European Research Council, ERC). He is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Center of Applied Marketing Science Merseburg (CAMS) (since 2006) and the Scientific Advisory Board of the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research Halle (IWH) (since 2015).

In addition, Sadrieh is a member of eight scientific societies, including the Society for Experimental Economic Research (GfeW), of which he has been deputy chairman since 2006.
