Karin Hannak (born July 8, 1940 in Wels ) is an Austrian artist whose field of activity spans capillography, photography , installation , video and conceptual art .

Life

Karin Hannak did her artistic training in Salzburg and Rome.

With the picture pain , which the artist painted on All Souls' Night in 1989, she began to deal with the themes of suffering and transience, time and eternity from her own experience. In the further course there was a change in their means of expression. In 1990 Karin Hannak discovered hair on the head as an artistic material (“CapilloArt”). From 1993 projects in white, billboards, installations, sculptures and photo projects followed. - Human suffering and concern for the future of our world became central issues. Karin Hannak often combines her artistic activity with calls for humanity and interpersonal solidarity. At the same time, your work is a contribution against the violence and brutality of our time.

The artist showed projects for peaceful togetherness at festivals and exhibitions in museums, galleries and in public spaces. City halls, museums, galleries, universities and schools from all countries of the European Union took part in Hannak's multi-part project Europalandschaft , which was carried out on the occasion of Austria's EU Presidency in 2006 , an indication of the great responsibility for the future of our children in our decisions. From 2008 the artist began to encompass the world with Embracing Time and Space (ETAS) , a symbol for love and peace in the form of a transparent foil banner with a quote from Thérèse von Lisieux .

Karin Hannak is married and has two children. She is a member of the Society of Fine Artists Austria, Künstlerhaus Wien, INTAKT Vienna and the artist community of the Galerie Forum Wels.
