Rachael Domenica Ray (born August 25, 1968 in Glens Falls , New York ) is an American television presenter and author .

Life

Her parents Elsa Scuderi and James Ray owned the Carvery restaurant near Cape Cod , Massachusetts . After finishing school in Lake George , New York, Ray first worked as a saleswoman at Macy’s in New York City .

She later moved back home and managed Lake George Brown's Pub at The Sagamore Hotel. Alongside her work, she gave cooking classes in which she taught recipes for 30 minutes of cooking time. The local broadcaster WRGB, owned by CBS , became aware of her 30-minute meal , and she received her first weekly cooking show there. Ray also had radio appearances in the following years and published her first cookbook.

In 2005, Ray signed a contract with Oprah Winfrey and King World Productions for a daily television talk show. The show titled Rachael Ray , which is produced in New York City, first appeared on September 18, 2006. Ray appeared in guest appearances on, among others, talk shows The View , The Today Show , The Tonight Show with Jay Leno , The Late Show with David Letterman , Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and Larry King Live .

In September 2005 Ray married the lawyer and singer John Cusimano in Montalcino , Italy .

Since October 2005 Ray has published Every Day with Rachael Ray in collaboration with The Reader's Digest Association . Ray can be seen as an advertising medium in various US commercials, including for Nabisco Cracker and, since 2007, for Dunkin 'Donuts . In 2008 Ray produced the Latin American cooking show Viva Daisy for Food Network ! with Daisy Martinez . In 2010 Ray hosted three cooking shows on Food Network.
