Karin Luckey

Karin Luckey , (* 1956 in Wuppertal ) is a German social scientist and educational scientist. She has been the rector of the University of Bremen since September 2008 .

biography

education and profession

Luckey studied sociology , social sciences, educational sciences and German at the University of Bonn and the Bergische Universität Wuppertal from 1978 to 1984 . From 1985 to 1987 she was a research assistant at the Hamburg University of Economics and Politics and received her doctorate from the university in 1997. From 1986 to 1988 she was a scientific and educational assistant at the Hamburg Adult Education Center. From 1984 to 1997 she was a board member of the Institute for Health, Environmental and Social Planning in Hamburg with a focus on organizational and personnel development, evaluation of model projects in labor market and employment policy, new public management and quality management. Since 1986 she has been teaching in education, training and further education, in particular in the social and health sector and in the field of public administration. As a co-founder of an interdisciplinary research institute, she was a research assistant there from 1987 to 1997. As a project manager and temporarily member of the board, she worked at the Institute for Health, Environment and Social Planning (IGUS) in Hamburg until 1998.

University professor and rector

From 1997 to 2008 she held the professorship for management of social organizations and social work at the University of Applied Sciences Oldenburg Ostfriesland Wilhelmshaven in the department of social work and health and from 2002 she was dean and member of the extended executive committee as well as an advisory member of the senate.

In 2008 she was elected Rector by the Academic Senate of the University of Bremen.
