Karin Nenz

Karin Nenz (* 18th October 1945 in Sollnitz as Karin Gabriele Grigat ) is a German glass designer and glass artist.

life and work

After graduating from high school, Karin Nenz completed an apprenticeship as a glass cutter in Weißwasser / OL and studied from 1965 to 1970 at the Halle University of Industrial Design, Burg Giebichenstein in Halle (Saale) as the first student in the then newly established glass design department at Ilse Decho with a diploma Graduation.

From 1971 to 1980 she worked under the name Karin Bubetz until she took the name Nenz.

Karin Nenz lived in Halle and initially worked in Neuhaus am Rennweg as a qualified designer. Then she independently learned the craft of blowing glass in front of the lamp. From 1978 to 1988 she worked as a freelancer in her own studio in Zeitz and Suhl. Here she also developed her technique of interior design for glass objects. In 1988 she moved to Würzburg , where she was accepted as a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists. She continued to work here in her studio in Würzburg-Heidingsfeld until 2016.
