Karin Peyker (* 1979 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian sculptor and photographer .

Life

From 1999 to 2004 she studied sculpture with Ruedi Arnold at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg . From 2004 to 2006 she studied Photography - graduate studies at the School of Visual Arts (HGB) in Leipzig. In 2006 Karin Peyker was assistant in the photography class at the International Summer Academy for Fine Arts in Salzburg . Most recently she was involved in the exhibitions "Right Here, Right Now" , Fotohof Salzburg, "For a Short Time Unseen", Kunstraum St. Virgil, Salzburg or "Raumeditions", Artwalk Salzburg. Karin Peyker lives and works in Salzburg .

The themes of memory, death and transience are at the center of her artistic work. She approaches these with various photographic methods and artistic strategies such as reporting (about visitors to the cemetery), productions that are reminiscent of vanitas-like still lifes, an autobiographical securing of evidence with a fictional family album of her grandmother, to the interplay of documentary photography and appropriation , the handling of memory images.
