Karin Riis-Jørgensen

Karin Riis-Jørgensen (born November 7, 1952 in Kerteminde ) is a Danish politician and was a member of the European Parliament from 1994 to 2009 as a member of the Venstre party .

Life

Riis-Jørgensen graduated from law school in 1978 . From 1979 to 1989 she worked for the Association of Danish Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Copenhagen and Brussels . She then worked from 1989 to 1994 as a department head at Coopers & Lybrand .

She was Vice-Chair of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe and representative of the Commission on Economic and Financial Affairs . She was also a representative of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Commission and a member of the delegations for relations with China and the US .

Today she lives in Rome , where her husband Birger Riis-Jørgensen is the Danish ambassador. The couple have two sons.
