Karl-Albert Eckmayr

Karl-Albert Eckmayr (born December 29, 1934 in Linz ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). He was a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament and ÖVP club chairman, deputy governor and member of the Federal Council .

education and profession

Eckmayr grew up in Fürling near Gutau, where he completed elementary and secondary school. He then attended the federal teacher training institute in Linz, which he completed with the Matura . From 1956 he worked as a primary school teacher in Gallneukirchen and Linz , later as a teacher at secondary schools and special schools and finally as a professor at the Federal Teachers' Training Institute and at the Linz Music Education Realgymnasium, was professor of education and teaching science at the Federal Education Academy and from 1973 to 1989 State School Board President. During this time he was also a member of the Linz municipal council. In addition to his job, he studied in Vienna from 1960 to 1965: philosophy, pedagogy, psychology and anthropology. His fellow student was his childhood friend, the social democrat Karl Grünner .

Political career

After he had previously been a local councilor in Linz, he joined the state parliament in 1979, was also the chairman of the ÖVP state parliament club from 1985 to 1989 and deputy chairman of the state party from 1986 to 1995.

From 1989 to 1995 he was Deputy Governor, at the same time as his friend Grünner, who was also Deputy Governor in the Upper Austrian provincial government at the time. In 1995 he retired at the same time as Governor Josef Ratzenböck .

Private

Eckmayr, who is interested in culture, is an enthusiastic gardener and passionate cook, enjoys traveling with his second wife in retirement, and in the ÖVP he is still a member of the state party conference.

Eckmayr is married for the second time; he has two sons and two grandchildren from his first marriage.
